Research interests

Liz is a Master’s student in the Interdisciplinary Studies Graduate Program (ISGP), working under the supervision of Dr. Michael M. Burgess at the W. Maurice Young Centre for Applied Ethics.  With a B.Sc. (Honours) in Molecular Genetics from the University of Alberta (2005), she is now involved in deliberative public engagement activities related to genomics.  Her soon-to-be-completed thesis "Does "misinformation" matter? Exploring the roles of (mis)information in a deliberative public engagement on biobanks" addresses criticisms regarding the involvement of inexpert publics in decision-making processes.  Her main academic interests include science communication and health research.
